Printing on substrates in high-speed, rigid applications can create static control problems. Static electricity on the substrate surface will cause serious print quality and printer problems. If your media generates static electricity, you need to remove or reduce it. If the printer is installed in a carpeted area, it is easily to build up static electricity on media surface.
Wiping the surface of the substrate with alcohol or spraying anti-static spray helps to reduce the static electricity. However if you wipe the surface, some “wipes” may be left on the print surface of the substrate. Some substrates available on the market do not create static control problems, and are therefore anti-static substrates.
