Fraying

Fraying in digitally printable fabrics occurs when the fibers at the edges begin to unravel, resulting in a frayed or worn appearance. This happens because most printable textiles are woven, meaning the threads are interlaced. When the fabric is cut, the loose threads have no structural support, causing them to come apart. The risk of fraying can be influenced by fabric type, weave tightness, and finishing processes. To minimize fraying, techniques such as heat sealing, hemming, or applying specialized coatings can help reinforce the fabric edges.
